The Ultimate Guide to Overcoming Fear of Failure
Today we discuss a beginner’s guide to overcoming fear of failure. So many of us act like failure is fatal. It isn’t! Nobody enjoys failing, but you may be letting a fear of failure sabotage your chances for success. Some people are so afraid to fail that they refuse to try. However, failing to try is the only true failure. If you try something and fail, try again. Eventually you’ll succeed.
In a previous post, I shared how failure can lead to some of the biggest successes, but what if you never try? If you don’t try, your chances of success are 0%. We can find numerous stories of people throughout history who have failed but refused to give up. I can only imagine how many people told them they would never succeed, repeatedly pointed out their previous failed efforts, and even characterized their attempts as pathetic. As many successful stories as we can find that started with failures, I bet there are many more people who let the doubts of others and their own fears prevent them from trying at all. Don’t be one of those people!
Some of our most notable failures include:
- Albert Einstein
- Babe Ruth
- John Grisham
- Vera Wang
- Stephenie Meyer
- Oprah Winfrey
That’s pretty rarefied company and you probably don’t think of any of them as failures. That’s precisely my point. You can choose to be defined by one moment that did not turn out as expected, or you can decide that you will learn from that experience and laugh about it once you have achieved success. Which do you choose?
Have a powerful day!
